Qualified veterans are
reimbursed directly for up to 60% of the costs
of flight and ground training for licenses and
ratings above the private pilot license.
They must have a
valid 2nd Class medical BEFORE beginning any
program.
(1st Class for ATP)
Veterans may not receive
benefits for private pilot, recreational pilot
or sport pilot training, since the benefits are
tied to the notion of them beginning a new
vocation.
They must enroll
initially in either a commercial program, or a
combination instrument/commercial program, or
enroll concurrently in an instrument and a
commercial program.
The student is responsible
for paying Air Orlando
for the full costs of all training prior to or
as it is delivered.
The veteran is
directly
reimbursed by the VA for up to 60% of
expenses based on Air Orlando submitting a
Certificate of Flight Training (VA Form
22-6553c) documenting what the student actually
spent.
